Just a quick update this morning for our faithful friends and family. They've told us that the winds calmed considerably overnight. They are working on the runway while watching the weather to make sure this is truly a safe window and not just a momentary break. We'll know more later today.

Yesterday (tues.) my classes went through all your blogs. We are now waiting with you. They are very excited and hopeful that you get out today. We will keep our fingers crossed. We are eager to see if the technology holds up and if you can post daily.

Hey Naomi it's Umar and Sarah again. We've been watching the site everyday waiting to see what happens. I got tired of waiting and went to the south pole myself on google earth last night. I don't know if anyone's told you but there isn't a great deal there - just some ice! Still we're hoping you guys get out there soon as the waiting must be dragging on and we know you can't wait to get back for the final of Big Brother. Lots of love x

Bonjour Kathy, Josee and the whole team.
I was just reading that in a tiny park of Punta Arenas there is a gigantic statue of Magellan. He is portrayed standing up surrounded by native people, one of them is in a seated position with a leg hanging. It appears that all travellers planning on going further south will have a safe journey as long as... they kiss the foot of this native person. Have you found this statue and gone through the ritual yet? Bonne chance!
