Freezing temperatures and heavy sleds

Lat S 89.43.304 Long W 90.28.251

It was a long, cold day of pulling sleds, but we're 6 miles closer to the pole. Hard work, but a goal that you don't have to work hard at to achieve isn't nearly as rewarding. What the five of us agree on is the practice of setting challenging, but attainable goals for ourselves....and, not being afraid to fail.

Many of our student (and adult) followers have asked about the obvious. Where do we go to the bathroom? Well, there's a huge polar plateau that we're using, but we're being environmentally consious. We want to leave this pristine environment clean for generations to come. So kids, we're packing out the poo!

We saw our first glimpse of civilization today. The twin otter ski plane that dropped us off a few days ago, buzzed by with a friendly dip of the wings to wish us well. It was on its way to pick up another expedition that was waiting at the pole. It was a nice feeling to know someone is out there and we're not completely alone.

Cheesy noodle suprise for dinner.

Signing off,

Polar Opposites

Ladies,

My students were very excited that you answered their questions about the technology you are using. My 6th period class is completely enthralled with your journey. Everyday they run in and ask if there is an update. They are trying to track your coordinates and figure out where you will end up.

They send their best and so do I. Be safe. Carol

Firstly, Kathy, thanks from all the Brits in the warm for the daily "Blogs".It's wonderful to hear how you're doing, I feel as though I know you all quite well !
Seeing the GPS getting closer to 90 is very exciting, and we don't have to walk a step !!!
Naomi,Jamie asks where you are every day when I pick him up from school and Tom always wants to know the details, but starts with " Has she done it yet !!" We love you. John.
