We're off

Woke this morning to calm conditions. The pilot is warming up the twin otter aircraft as we're digging out from our tent. The sleds are somewhere buried in a snowdrift, but we'll get them out. Today we fly closer to the pole for our walk/ski in. We're planning to be there on the 25th, with a pickup planned for the 26th. Everything is subject to change, of course, as we've experienced. Mother Nature will determine our schedule. :)

To the students who asked about our technology. It's a subnotebook computer with an Iridium satellite phone. All battery powered. Photos are too big to send, but we may send one from the pole if we can.

Take care everyone. Next update from somewhere inside 89 degrees south

It's morning in San Diego, sunny with no wind. How's the wind there? It was good to hear that you had a moment of calm weather. Enjoy the adventure ladies!

I've just been looking at the globe and it makes me even more proud of what you're doing.Tom and Jamie are both at parties, having played football today and rugby tomorrow.Last week everybody at rugby asked after you, and told me to send their love. Needless to say huge hugs and love from me. John xxx
